When is the best time to aerate and plant seed for growing grass?

Late summer or early fall is an ideal season for aerating and top dressing your lawn, as the soil remains warm from summer, promoting germination, while the crisp fall air encourages new growth. Aerating perforates your existing soil, allowing for air, water and nutrients to penetrate grass roots, allowing them to grow deeper and stronger. Top dressing with our premium super peat compost further improves soil conditions and enhances seed germination, helping to produce a thick green lawn. With adequate moisture, fertilizer and sunlight, the new seed will have less competition with weed growth as in the Spring and will
be established prior to the cooler weather setting in.
